Do I have to have PRINCE2 Foundation to be able to go to Practitioner?
Not necessarily - it is enough to have PRINCE2 Foundation (in any version), or alternatively IPMA certification, CAPM or PMP. The most common However, the path is through the Foundation, as the Practitioner course directly builds on its content.
How does PRINCE2 Practitioner differ from PMP or IPMA at an advanced level?
While PMP and IPMA verify sufficient knowledge and practice in project management in general, PRINCE2 Practitioner tests the ability to apply and tailor specific PRINCE2 methodologies to real-world project scenarios. The exam therefore works with a comprehensive case study, not just isolated questions.
What does "tailoring" mean in PRINCE2 and why is it also discussed in Practitioner?
Tailoring is the adaptation of the PRINCE2 methodology to a specific type of project, field or size of organization, because no project exactly matches the textbook model. While the Foundation gives the basic principles, the Practitioner teaches how to bend them in practice without them ceasing to work.

Foundation only tests your understanding of the terminology and principles, but does not prove that you can apply them to a real project. Practitioner fills this gap and is therefore what employers and clients typically associate with true independence in the role of project manager.
