Changes in the validity of ITIL® and PRINCE2® certifications

What certifications are we talking about?

• ITIL® 4
• PRINCE2®
• PRINCE2® Agile
• MSP® 4. a 5.
• M_o_R® 3. a 4.
• MoP®
• P3O®
• MoV®
• AgileSHIFT®
• RESILIA®

Candidates that do not renew their certification within 3 years of the award date will still be included on the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) but a note will be added to their record to indicate that their certification is not aligned with current certification requirements.

Do you already hold any of the above certifications? You will then renew your certifications as follows:

• If certified before 30 June 2020, you will have until 1 July 2023 to renew your certification, regardless of their original award date.
• If certified after June 2020, you will have to renew your certification(s) within 3 years of the original award date.

Renewal methods:

• Retake the same exam: Renew certification through re-taking your original exam before the renewal date.
• Take further courses and certifications: Renew your certification by attending another course and taking an exam within the same product suite before the renewal date.
• Gain CPD points for 3 years consecutively. You will need to submit at least 20 CPD points each year, across different CPD categories. At the end of this period, your certification renew-by date will then be extended by 3 years, and the cycle will repeat. 
  

You can renew your certification only with a higher certificate in the given area. ITIL®4 certification will not be renewed by obtaining a PRINCE2 certification but could be renewed by taking any other I ITIL®4 certification

You will get automatically gain 1 month free access to MyAxelos to all exams from PeopleCert.

A third renewal option will be available to candidates from March 2023:

• Collect and record CPD points.
