Course description

Artificial intelligence is no longer reserved for data scientists — today anyone who works with spreadsheets can benefit from it. This course brings together tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Copilot and shows you how to put them to work directly inside Excel. Each tool has its strengths, and you'll learn to pick the right one for each task.

You'll generate tables and functions from plain-English descriptions, automate repetitive tasks with AI-written macros, and analyse and visualise data without needing a statistics background. You'll also learn to decode existing formulas, fix errors faster than ever, and build a polished dashboard in a single afternoon.

The final part of the course focuses on building your own AI assistants — small, purpose-built helpers that handle specific recurring tasks automatically. You'll leave with practical skills you can put to use the very next day at work.

Required knowledge

  • Basic familiarity with Excel — you know what a cell, formula and sheet are. No advanced skills needed.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to try things hands-on during the course.
  • We recommend bringing your own laptop — the course is highly practical.

Target audience

This course is ideal for anyone who works with data in Excel on a regular basis and is looking for a smarter, faster way to do it.

  • How AI works — practical, jargon-free
  • Overview of tools: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot — differences and best use cases for each

Content creation & automation
  • Generating tables from a text description
  • Creating functions and formulas based on a plain-language task description
  • Writing and editing macros with AI assistance
  • Explaining unfamiliar formulas and fixing errors with AI support

Productivity & faster learning
  • Using AI as a personal tutor to master Excel more quickly
  • Dictating instructions instead of typing — saving time at scale
  • AI as an on-the-fly advisor while working in your spreadsheet

Building your own AI assistants for Excel
  • How to design and build a custom AI assistant for data analysis
  • An assistant for automatic formula and macro generation tailored to your processes

Objectives

  • You'll know how to use AI effectively in your daily Excel work and significantly cut the time spent on routine tasks.
  • You'll be able to generate formulas, tables and macros using plain language instructions — no manual coding required.
  • You'll learn to analyse and visualise data with AI and create clear dashboards and charts with ease.
  • You'll build your own AI assistants tailored to your specific workflows and processes.
  • You'll pick up methods for learning Excel faster with AI support and become confident working with larger datasets.
